Blockboard and Plywood: Understanding the Difference

Blog blockboard vs plywood

Both materials are useful engineered panels, but they should not be selected by name alone. Their construction affects weight, spanning behavior, edge fixing and fabrication.

Plywood

Plywood is built from bonded veneer layers. Available grades and thicknesses make it suitable for a broad range of furniture, interior and construction applications.

Blockboard

Blockboard uses a core of wood strips between face layers. It is commonly considered for furniture components, partitions, shelves and longer panels where its construction suits the design.

Compare the application

  • Moisture exposure and selected grade
  • Panel span and support
  • Weight and handling
  • Edge fixing and hardware
  • Surface finish and fabrication method

Review the structured Sagun specifications and confirm the final selection for the intended component.
